The Research Center for Health Reform and Development (hereinafter referred to as the Center) is a teaching and research institution under the Department of Public Health. It sponsors the Journal of Chinese Medical Ethics and currently has 8 employees.
The center undertakes the teaching work of undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Introduction to General Practice, Medical History and Medical Ethics and Interpersonal Communication. Center is the chief editorial unit of national planning textbooks of Medical Ethics (8-year system), Medical Ethics (5-year system), Medical Ethics (e-schoolbag), Doctor-Patient Relationship, Behavioral Medicine, Pharmaceutical Consumer Behavior, Fundamental of Management and Health Management.
The Center's professor recruit doctoral and master's students in the second-level disciplines of epidemiology and health statistics, and there are more than 50 graduate students. The main destinations for graduates are colleges and universities, hospitals, Center for Disease and Control (CDC), health administration, policy research institutions and so on.
The center focuses on national health system reform and social health issues research, through research projects of health policy evaluation and health technology assessment, medical insurance policy and statistical analysis model research, innovative research on health service system, health education and evaluation of AIDS and chronic diseases, doctor-patient relationship and the construction of hospital culture, the legal protection system of Chinese medicine intellectual property rights and so on, provides an important basis for the establishment and improvement of rural medical security systems in the country and regions, the prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases and the formulation of relevant strategies. It has taken charge of 4 Natural Science Foundation of China and National Social Science foundation, taken charge of 20 provincial and ministerial level and international cooperation projects, edited and participated in editing more than 80 books and textbooks, and published more than 200 academic papers, including 15 papers by SSCI and SCI. It has received 8 teaching and research awards and hosted international academic conference for 5 times.
The Center's professor is a member of the General Medical Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Planning Textbook Compilation Committee of the Eight-Year Clinical Medicine Department of the National College of Higher Education, and a member of Health Management Professional Planning Textbook Expert Committee of the National College of Higher Education. Editorial Board ofThe Journal of Medicine & PhilosophyandGlobal Health Journal, editor-in-chief ofChinese Medical Ethicsmagazine, deputy editor-in-chiefChinese JournalofMedical History,editorial board ofMedicine and Philosophy,Chinese and Foreign Medical Philosophy,Medicine and Societyand so on. He is the executive director of the China Sexology Association, the Vice Chairman of Chinese Society Medical Ethics of Chinese Medical Association, the Vice Chairman of Chinese Society Medical History of Chinese Medical Association, the chairman of the Integrated Medical and Humanities Committee of the Integrated Medical Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and the president of the Shaanxi Sexology Society, deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Medical Ethics Association, Vice Chairman of the Shaanxi Medical History Society, and executive director of the Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology History Society and chairman of the Medical History Professional Committee.
