PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The goal of this specialty is to cultivate the advanced forensic talents who develop themselves in an all-around way of morality, intelligence, physique and art; master the theories and technique skills of basic and forensic medicine, broad knowledge of humanities and forensic medicine-related legal sciences, and possess the spirit of innovation and sense of social responsibility; Own the ability of initial forensic identification, research, teaching and professional development potential, capable of providing medicolegal expertise, teaching, forensic research and social service for different level of police forces, judgment court, procuratorate, insurance companies, and judicial expertise organizations.
PROGRAMREQUIREMENTS
The requirements of the program include:
A. The ideological and moral education and professional quality
1. Possess good ideological and political quality, professional ethics and medical humanistic spirit; Have the ideals and beliefs of lifelong dedication to forensic medicine.
2. Master the principles of Medical Ethics, possess the ability of healing the wounded, rescuing the dying, and practicing medical humanitarianism.
3. Possess the spirit of analytical criticism,the scientific attitude of seeking truth from facts; Master the correct thinking and problem solving methods.
4. Establish the concept of lifelong study and the spirit of innovation; Pursue progress continuously.
5. Possess the ability of team cooperation and communication; Be willing to learn from others and good at cooperating with others.
B. The professional knowledge
1. Master the basic knowledge and scientific methods of medicine-related sciences, such as Nature Science, Behavioral Science and Humanities and Social Sciences.
2. Master the normal structures, functions and psychological states of human body in different developmental stages.
3. Master all the causations that cause diseases, such as genetic development, metabolism, poisoning, microbiology, immunity, tumor, aging, injury, etc.
4. Be familiar with the pathological, pathophysiological and some other changes of the structures and functions of the human organs during sickness.
5. Master the principles of clinical manifestation, laboratory, imaging and pathology examination of common and frequently-occurring diseases.
6. Possess the ability of performing systemic and special medical examination (including mental status examination); Master the clinical routine operative techniques; Possess the ability of choosing proper accessory examinations and explaining the examination results.
C. The technical ability
1. Possess the ability of systematically and correctly collecting the patients’ medical history, normally taking the physical and mental status examination.
2. Possess the basic clinic skills of diagnosing and treating common and recurring diseases.
3. Possess the ability of clinic thinking and classifying and identifying the etiology and pathogenesis of human diseases.
4. Master the basic experimental skills and scientific research methods; Have the initial scientific research ability.
5. Strongly possess the ability of communication, expression and accurately obtaining medical history information (including social economic conditions).
6. Neatly master English, and be able to communicate fluently.
7. Possess the ability of computer application and medical information processing through modern technology and servicing the professional practice.
8. Possess the basic ability of self-study and lifelong study.
D. Professional training
1. Master the basic principles and methods of autopsy, individual identification, damage examination, pathological diagnosis.
2. Master the basic knowledge of professional relevant Biology and Genetics.
3. Master the professional relevant basic knowledge of Law.
4. Initially master the ability of forensic scientific research.

YEARS OF STUDY, DEGREEGRANTING ANDGRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Five years with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine.
Minimum credit requirements: 210 credits for in-class learning, and 8 credits for extracurricular activities.
In addition, the students are required to complete the military training, pass the national CET-4 exam, and meet the National Standard for College Students’ Physique Health before graduation.

PROFESSIONAL CORE COURSE
Forensic Psychiatry, Forensic Pathology, Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Toxicological Analysis, Forensic Biology, Forensic Clinic Medicine, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Jurisprudence, Criminal Technology, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Scene Study, etc.
PRACTICE TRAINING
The Practice Training includes: military training, professional basic skill training, public security trainee, scientific research ability and method training, students overseas exchange and practice, etc. The specific requirements are in “course selection requirements”.
COURSE SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
1. The explanations about course module settings
Teaching courses have three modules including General Educational Courses, Major Platform Courses and Professional Courses.
General Educational Courses include General Courses (24 credits)(13 credits for Ideological and Political Theory Course, 1 for Military Theory, 8 for College English and 2 for Physical Education), General Core Courses and General Optional Courses, 6 credits respectively.
Major Platform Courses and Professional Courses modules will set up the compulsory and optional courses according to the professional characteristics.
2. The requirements of each module optional course
The medical students are required to study 6 credit general core courses in four categories: natural sciences and technology, world civilization, society and art, and cultural heritage (the same course module shall not be selected repeatedly).
General Optional Courses: medical students can select any 6 credits’ courses. Course category is not limited.
Classified teaching is performed in English, including 4 credits’ English compulsory courses and 4 credits’ expanded optional courses. The students must attend Intensive English Summer Camp in the summer session of the first year, which is compulsory. Public English Courses include Theoretical Course, Practical Course and Self Study. The students can obtain the corresponding credits after they select all the Public English Courses and complete the relevant teaching requirements. The students must select Public Speaking Course before they select English Debating Course.
Physical Education is compulsory course in the 1stto 4thsemesters. Physical specialized course in 5thto 8thsemesters has no credits. Physical specialized course is limited selection in the 5th and 6th semesters, and is optional in the 7th and 8th semesters.
Optional Courses in the Major Platform Courses and Professional Courses modules has the least credits requirements, and the students can select more course.
3. The explanations and requirements about comprehensive practice
The comprehensive practice reflects the guiding ideology of early exposure to society, specialty and scientific research.
1) Professional basic skill training include: Biomedical Basic Experimental Skill Training taking place in the biomedical course teaching process; Clinical Basic Skill Training, teaching and probation will alternate during the teaching process; Clinic Teaching Practice is arranged in the 9th semester and last 20 weeks with 10 credits; Forensic Professional Practice is arranged after the completion of Clinic Teaching Practice (including the winter vacation of the 9th semester), and the credit is 10.
2) Summer session practice includes Military Training after the enrollment, English and Computer Capacity Training will be carried out in the form of Intensive English Summer Camp in the summer session of the first year, which is compulsory. Forensic Professional Education will be carried out in the first three summer session, and the credit is 1. Public Security Trainee is arranged in the summer session of the third year.
3) The ability of research and method training are arranged in the beginning of second year and cover the whole medical education. These training include three innovation education program, open experiment program and training of scientific research methods.
4) Students are encouraged to participate in short term domestic and foreign exchange activities in the form of students exchange program and summer camp, and all kinds of social practice.
4. The specific requirements of extracurricular 8 credits are performed according to the relevant documents of the Students' Affairs Division.
