研究所以“立足西部，服务国家、世界一流”为宗旨，瞄准国际上计算机网络、大数据、信息安全等领域的研究前沿，依托“陕西省计算机网络重点实验室”“陕西省医疗健康大数据工程研究中心”“西安市数据科学与生物信息技术重点实验室”等科研基地。开展物联网、生物医学大数据、网络与信息安全、普适计算等领域的深度融合与应用创新。研究方向围绕“物联网与信息安全”“生物医学大数据”，取得了大量的科研成果，并被广泛辐射到政府和国内外企业的产品之中。

The Institute is aimed to “Based on the west china, serving the whole country, Strive to be the world class”, and target the international research front, computer network, big data, information security and other related fields. For the purpose, It relies on these scientific research bases including "Shaanxi Province Key Laboratory of Computer Network", "Shaanxi Province Medical and Health Big Data Engineering Research Center" and "Xi 'an Key Laboratory of Data Science and Bioinformation Technology". The Institute carry out in-depth integration and application innovation in the fields of the Internet of Things (IoT), Biomedical big data, Network and information security, and Pervasive computing. Its research direction focuses on "Internet of Things and Information security" and "biomedical big data". A large number of scientific research achievements have been made and widely used in the products of the government and domestic and foreign enterprises.
