Mechanical Engineering,founded in 1913, is one of earliest disciplines of Jiaotong University.It is alsothe first batch of doctoral and post-doctoral mobile stations in the field of machinery.

The School of Mechanical Engineering is proud of its excellent academic reputation developed for over one century.Gu Chongxian, Shi Weixiang, Lu Bingheng and Jiang Zhuangde successively assumed the role of convener for the mechanical discipline within the Academic Degrees Committee of The State Council. School of Mechanical Engineeringis regarded as a top-ranking discipline in the world,being in the 52in the QS World Ranking 2023,the top one in the US News Ranking 2024-2025, and the top one in mechanical engineering in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2021~ 2023.

The quality of students of School of Mechanical Engineeringat home and abroad has reached new highs.The average source of undergraduate students are top 2% in their provinces.
