XJTU delegation visits US universities

XJTU and the University of Nevada sign a cooperation agreement.

Shan Zhiwei, vice-president of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led a delegation on an exchange visit to the United States from May 22 to 26, aiming to strengthen practical cooperation between Chinese and US universities.

On May 22, the delegation visited the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). During the meeting, Shan highlighted that XJTU has utilized iHarbour to cultivate talent, enhance disciplinary strength and reputation, and accelerate international cooperative education.

Julia Kent, vice-president of UC Davis, welcomed the delegation and affirmed the university's commitment to long-term talent development partnerships with XJTU. The two institutions signed a memorandum of cooperation for an international student program.

On May 23, the delegation visited the University of Nevada, Reno. Both sides discussed student exchanges, faculty training, and research collaboration, culminating in the signing of a cooperation memorandum. The delegation also toured the university's Mineral Museum, Seismological Laboratory, and Tahoe campus.

On May 26, the delegation visited the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco. Shan emphasized utilizing XJTU's strengths, fostering university exchanges, and mobilizing alumni resources to advance Sino-US collaboration in education, technology, culture, and trade.

Consul General Zhang Jianmin praised the delegation's achievements, shared insights on current US-China higher education cooperation priorities, and offered suggestions for future collaborations.
